Mr B Tyers retires after 28 years in the dairy business at Stratford and Georgetown. He served in the air crew as a LAO and transferred to the army in 1945 as a private in infantry. A veteran of this war with ROASO at Camp Borden, he remains active in sports and church and will reside in Georgetown with his wife and family.

Mrs Neil Hunter Dies After Long Illness in Georgetown
Mrs. Neil Hunter of Georgetown died at her Queen Street home on April 24 after a long illness. Born in Ballinafad 76 years ago she moved to Georgetown as a baby with parents Robert John Bennett and Hannah Jane Thompson. Surviving are daughters Marjorie and Wilfrid, a sister Ada O'Brien of Rochester New York, and many nephews as pallbearers. Funeral service was held at the home and interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery Georgetown.

British war brides growing in Georgetown as marriages bind families across continents. Sept 6 1944 wedding linked to RCAF service in India and a later fall reunion before departure to Canada. Mrs Broomhead arrival honored with a special limited edition Herald. Peggy Lusted later Mrs Rayner wed July 1943. Husband served in England and Italy and was wounded. An accident at Georgetown Clay Products injured Bob, who lost two wrist bones and was treated at Guelph General Hospital.

Fire destroys garage at Limehouse
Fire completely destroyed a garage and its contents owned by Jack Roughley at Limehouse early this morning. Mr Roughley noticed the blaze at 3 30 am and it had progressed too far to save any of the building. The garage stood about 40 feet from the house and posed no danger to the home. Fire crews were unaware of the blaze initially.

Life long Georgetown resident Thomas Henry Dillon died April 18 at his daughter Mrs Walter Peck’s home after ill health. Born Limehouse he worked for Grand Trunk Railway as a section man and later on area farms. Survived by two children Mrs Walter Peck and Percy Dillon. Mrs Phoebe Watson a Georgetown resident and former Limehouse native died after a four day illness at Peel Memorial Hospital on April 20 aged 91. She was born Phoebe Lane and married George Leonard Watson in 1805. she is survived by six step children, three nieces and a nephew. Funeral services were held in Acton with interment at Ebeneser Cemetery.

Return of Flying Officer Jim Ruddell from war service
Flying Officer Jim Ruddell arrives home in Canada aboard the Terra de France. Son of Mrs. Fred Ruddell and the late Mr. Ruddell, he enlisted in the RCAF in 1942 after graduating high school. He trained in Quebec and PEI, served in Nassau and England, reconnoitered Northern Europe, and later flew with transport command to India. He hopes to enroll at the University of Toronto.

Overseas flight veteran Harry Williams returns home
Flying Officer Harry Williams, who served with RCA Transport Command in Europe since 1943, arrived in Glen Williams last Thursday after crossing from England aboard the Us de France. He trained in Victoriaville and St. Johns Quebec and served at camps in the west and Charlottetown before going overseas. Williams recently received his pilot wings and commission and married Peggy Maclaren in Toronto. He plans to resume studies at the University of Toronto next fall. Williams is one of three Williams brothers who served overseas. Trevor and Jim Williams also saw army service.
