Burns Transport repeated their Tuladeg victory by beating WU M On s Warriors by a similar margin to claim the senior mercantile donkey championship. It marked their fourth straight playoff win after earlier semifinals against the Commuters.
Neighbors and friends gathered at Stewarts town Hell to bid farewell to Mr. and Mrs. John Jamond and Jim Ismond who sold their farm and plan to move to a new farm at RR 3 Gualph. Reeve Wilfrid Bird chaired the event and Lob Alexander read an address. gifts included a studio couch and an electric alarm clock.
Jim Gordon of Limehouse and son of Mr and Mrs William Gordon reenlists in the army after returning to Canada last fall and receiving his discharge. He heads to Calgary Alberta for new duty with the 48th Highlanders.
Winners were declared after the Legion sponsored Kid Hockey League finals at the arena. Marlboros defeated Hamilton Buffalo 3 2 and Detroit edged Black Hawks 4 3 to claim their series titles as coaches referees and Legion members praised for their winter effort.
Mr. William Emslie of 9th Line received news by cable on Sunday of his mother's death in Scotland. Mrs. Alexander Emslie, age 96, had managed a 160 acre farm at Alford Aberdeenshire since her husband's death ten years ago. Surviving are her son William and two daughters Mrs. Patricia Adam of Alford and Mrs. Alexander Middleton of Kincardineshire.
The last gathering of the Girls Sewing Club occurred Saturday at Shirley Mack's residence. Members prepared display articles for a demonstration centered on the theme being being well dressed and well groomed.
Georgetown Public School board plans rapid expansion with two new classrooms this fall and two more in later years. Staff will rise from 16 to 18, with four classrooms added at Wrigglesworth Public School and upgrades including a health room and kitchen. Glen Williams will gain a two room addition to ease crowding, with a fourth teacher possibly added after spring survey.

Forty friends from Georgetown attended a dinner and shower on Saturday for Georgetow and Tardato. The event featured a warm welcome and shared gifts as part of the couple’s wedding celebrations.
A capacity audience at the Stone School enjoyed Betty Grove’s Europe themed show celebrating the Ives-Wood Women’s Institute third birthday. The program featured humorous explanations, lunch followed, and thanks to Mrs. R Corbett and projector operator Mr. John Glynn. Miss Grove is guest of Mr. and Mrs. Ern Batkin for the weekend.
