The council heard that resurfacing of No. 7 highway is definite this year with one phase approved by the highways branch in Hamilton. Engineer Ross Simmons will present the plan to Queen's Park for approval before council. The meeting also discussed a town garbage contract, water meters, land swaps with Bob Lane, and new park facilities including a soccer field and two softball diamonds.

Nathaniel Kirkwood Hardie 74 a former CPR police officer, born in Glasgow, lived in Acton Georgetown and Toronto retiring after thirty years in Canada. He died in Toronto Sunday. His wife Maria Jane Given died a year ago. He leaves two sisters in Glasgow. Interment was in Beathaven Memorial Gardens after a funeral service in Toronto.

She left two sisters Sybil Haworth and Mrs B S Hyde. husband predeceased her. Funeral cremation in Toronto with later burial at Peterborough Cemetery.

Lindley Beaumont 83 a Glen Williams resident since childhood died in Hamilton General Hospital after a monthlong illness following a visit to his daughter in Stoney Creek. Born January 23 1872 in Galt he lived in Glen Williams most of his life. An ardent church worker organist and Sunday School teacher he led the Glen Williams Band for twenty years and was a strong Conservative with a love of politics and sports. Surviving is his daughter Beatty married to Lee Ashford of Stoney Creek.
