Georgetown Intermediates defeated Port Elgin Lakesides 13 to 6 in Owen Sound last Friday night securing advancement in the Ontario Intermediate playdowns. Delly Beaumont starred for Georgetown with scoring and assists as Norm Locking Chriss and Kenny Nash also contributed while Port Elgin’s Norm Locking and Kenny Nash impressed. The game featured fast action many former Georgetown fans in attendance and a lengthy third period highlighted by multiple goals.

Mrs Gordon Sutherland of London visited neighbours last week while Mr Federation of Aquouline presented several films at the Hall on Wednesday. Community gatherings included a Tuesday euchre at Mrs Kilpatrick's and a Friday memorial hall pot luck supper and concert with local performers. WD visited Sunday and Mrs Smethure and Mr Lane are reported ill.

Two More English Brides Join Husbands in Georgetown
Two English war brides arrived in Georgetown from England aboard the Aqui tania to join husbands stationed there. Mrs. William Tennant formerly Nora May Burgess of Haywards Heath Sussex wed Pte Tennant on December 11 1943 and previously worked with the ATS. Bernard Burgess, his younger brother, also married an English girl and is expected to cross with their son. Another English bride, Rose Saruss, formerly from Holland, is joining a Dutch girl in Georgetown as the town welcomes British war brides to start new lives.

Mr John Featherstone Ford died Sunday morning March 17 at his home on the sixth line after a period of illness. He served as Recording Steward of the United Church Hobby Charge and later elder. once elected to the Provincial Legislature. His funeral was at Bethel United Church with Rev J O Totton officiating. The Hornby United Church held events including a Trafalgar Hall program March 14 and a St Patrick crokinole party March 1 with prizes awarded. the YP A hosted a gathering for Ashgrove and Bethel youths at the close of services.
