Cedarvale School for Girls, closed last August after years of operation, will be advertised for sale. A Church Board spokesman said the property, about 20 acres with buildings, has been appraised at 130090.00 dollars. Final approval rests with the United Church General Council.

County Grants For Retarded Schools In Halton County
Halton County preliminarily budgets a grant of 375.00 per pupil for 72 students in the three retarded schools. Sunshine School Oakville Bruce-Lyn Milton Burlington receive 8350 8080 and 9150 respectively to cover the deficit of the Halton County Recorded Association. Neighbour Uproar Delays Apartment Permit at Haylawn Crescent
A municipal council halted a proposed W4 to R3 zoning change and suspended a $120,000 four building project for a four hundred scratch near Duncan Drive after a resident petition. The action followed objections about property values taxes traffic and recreation space raised by 50 homeowners led by Allan Trueman of 24 Haylawn Crescent. The plan by O and P Construction Port Credit would have 4 one bedroom and 16 seven bedroom suites on four 50 foot lots. Council ordered a legal review of the permit and a weekly permit report before any approval plus rezoning study and future subdivision showing areas for multiple dwellings. John Milton of 67 Guelph Street also raised concerns about a garage used as store restaurant and barber in an R3 zone.

Georgetown Little Theatre won the L. C. Smith award for best visual presentation for Under the Sycamore Tree by Sam Spewack at the Western Ontario Regional Drama Festival in Simcor Ont. Adjudicator Guy Neame praised the staging while noting pace flaws and strong performances by Bill Harvatt and Ron Hill. First place went to Sir Thomas More Players of Hamilton who advance to the Dominion Drama Festival.

A Georgetown branch official said canvassers raised 2007.41 from door to door and industry 24500 for a total of 2342.41 during the blitz week. Blitz day was Monday March 16 with many canvassers working all week returning to homes not visited first. Headquarters was at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce plaza branch. Family of Eight Homeless After $20,000 Store Fire
A Sunday afternoon blaze gutted a Music Hox dine and dance hall housed with a Vaulkner family basement apartment two miles north of Norval. Neighbors and a passerby rescued three-year-old twins from the basement as flames tore through the building. The fire caused about $20,000 in losses. a witness described entering the burning store and hearing a cry for help.
