Ottawa reports the defence department has 63 million dollars this year to strengthen national security. The Independent Defence Purchasing Board will negotiate and recommend contracts for defence equipment over 5000 dollars with cabinet approval. The board aims to curb profits above five percent on non tendered contracts and favors using both public and private munitions production.

Barber welcomed new members. Mrs. C. R. Brown from Toronto spoke on aims of the empire order and urged unity among women. Georgetown’s charter application was noted.
