Premises gutted at Whitmee Electric fire on Edith Street
Fire caused by an overheated stove pipe gutted the Whitmee Electric premises on Edith Street Friday morning. Frank Whitmee, in the building for bookkeeping, called the brigade as flames spread through the old structure destroying most contents. He displayed a new Inglis washing machine and an second hand machine. The building, once Gartley pump works, remains standing but interior is gutted. Whitmee now operates from his home nearby.

Young District Farmer Dies on Arizona Strip
The community mourns Douglas Law born 1920 in Stewarttown who died suddenly on a trip from Arizona en route to Chicago. He left a wife Edna Preston and two daughters Mary and Lillian, plus his mother and several nephews. A private funeral, church services, and a graveside rite by the Orange Lodge were held in Georgetown.
