The 1922 edition of the Cyclopedia of the Dominion "St Facts about Cannan" edited by Frank Veigh is enlarged and improved. It promises a concise, alphabetically organized survey of Canada from Agriculture to Yukon over 50 chapters. Copies are available from newsdealers or by mailing 30 cents to Canadian Facts Pub. Local Council of Women invites the public to hear Mrs. C H Becker discuss The Movies at the Library Thursday afternoon. She will be at the Library from 3 30 to 4 00 and a 16 cent admission helps defray expenses. Ladies are urged to donate usable second hand clothing for distribution to families hit by winter job loss.
The 29th annual meeting of the Women's Auxiliary of St George's church met in the schoolroom on Tuesday afternoon February 1 with Rev. Mayes presiding. Reports highlighted a highly successful year and officers for the coming year were elected including Mrs Mayes as honorary president and Mrs Beaumont as president. A life membership was awarded to Mrs Castell by President Mrs Beaumont, tea followed with hostesses listed.
Jobo PF Brown died Monday afternoon after months of suffering. Born in Scotland 80 years ago he came to Downie township as a youth and later lived near Norval for forty years. Survived only by his daughter Jene Brown. Funeral conducted by Rev. Walter Patterson at Norval cemetery with Presbyterian faith.
Acton Laird family from Georgetown visited aunt Mrs. Quifman on Sunday and attended Knox Church anniversary. The town’s G T R tank was unused for three weeks. Reeve Barber fell ill after a Vancouver trip, was moved to a Detroit hospital, and is progressing toward recovery.
About thirty Epworth Longuoras traveled to Georgetown Monday evening to join the Methodist Church youth program. The visitors led the program while locals provided refreshments. D. W.
