W M U Meeting Addressed by District Organizer

The W M U will hold its regular monthly meeting this afternoon at Mrs W H Wilson's home with Mrs R L Guild Guelph District Organizer present to speak. The birthday box will be opened and donations received. Curios will be exhibited. Cottage prayer meeting planned for Thursday evening at Mrs H W Kennedy's home. Pastor's Sunday messages will cover rewards in the morning and unconsciousness in character in the evening.

Dance for Ballina and Wardens Draws Youth

Ballina and Mr and Mrs John Warden hosted a dance for local youth last Wednesday evening. Mr Vannatter spent the week with the into family. Mrs T Roezel hosted guests including Mrs J W Gibson Cataract and visitor J Clark Holdfest Sask with sisters Jennie Norrie Mae Berriman Erin. Mr and Mrs Fred Home Konillse have returned home after winter visits.

Military Notes From Overseas Arrivals And Draftee Lists

Gunner Howard Jerkyn of the Cobourg Heavy Artillery arrived in England. Pte Harry Eisen of Toronto recently came to town. Workers bid farewell to Pte Alfred Braunl with a written watch gift. An amendment to the Military Service Act is expected this session to place all men aged 20 since October 38 into Class One, expanding the draft. Draftees Wm. John Currie Campbellville Joseph Woodcock Acton and Wm. Walsh Georgetown were ordered to report January 28 to February 2 to the 2nd Battalion 2nd Ontario Regiment. Major G. A. Cline 10.8.0 ordered back to England as an instructor in the Engineers. he has served with the Divisional Signal Company since the start, earned a French decoration and DSO, and survived several hot spots with a near miss from a bullet. Pte. Chas Ruddy is ill at Moore Barracks hospital England.

Norval Resident Recovering After Hospital Stay

Norval resident Mr J A Fuller of Alloa has left Guelph Hospital after five weeks for appendicitis surgery. He is staying at his brother O B Fuller’s Norval home and is reported to be recovering. Corp John Fincher, Norval hero, received a royal welcome at Pbell’s Hall last Thursday evening and was presented with a well filled purse. Mrs Ann Campbell, aged 94, longtime Norval resident born in County Longford Ireland, died February 16 at Alma Ontario. funeral conducted by Rev Alfred S Trueblood from the home of her son James in Norval with burial beside her husband. Floral tributes included a pillow from her son Joe Campbell and a wreath from Rev and Mrs Woltz of Alma.
