Georgetown reports a budget rise to 7800 dollars, about 3000 more than current assessment. Awards include Bludd of Georgetown with a 420.50 bid for painting three rooms at Georgetown High, Schultz Electrical Construction winning wiring two rooms at 0024.50, and Milton High painting bids to W. H. Kentner & Son at 1720. Pocahontas coal secured by Cavalier stoker coal at 19.75 for Milton.

Walter Whitmee Had First Taxi In Georgetown
Walter Whitmee a Georgetown resident of 39 years died June 23 after two years of failing health. Born in Buckinghamshire England 74, he arrived in Canada in 1911, worked on John Brown’s farm, then ran Drummond milk business on Main Street. He started the town’s first taxi service twenty years ago and retired five years ago. Survived by his wife six children and five grandchildren. Funeral held at McClure Funeral Home with interment at Greenwood Cemetery.

The Lions Club, Ministerial Association, and Recreation Commission plan the second annual Stay-at-Home camp with two weeks of Bible school, singing, hikes, swimming at Norval YMCA pool, picnics, and crafts. Lome Scots Regiment Weekends in Muskoka
About 125 members of the Lome Scots Regiment joined a weekend training in Port Carling district. An advance party under Major Paul Barber left Friday, the main force traveled by motor convoy Saturday morning. They practiced boat landings and held a campfire on Barber's Island. On Sunday the attack plan was carried out on the island after overnight bush bivouac, with visitors from Toronto noting the event.
