Halton County Students Stage Sit-In at Council Meeting
Forty five boys and girls from Halton County schools attended the Halton County Council meeting at the Mill Street Inn last Friday. The students, introduced by the county warden and staff, observed proceedings and later heard from officials on county governance, road work, and a new House of Refuge wing plan in Brampton. Council approved by-laws on equalized assessment and current-year expenses, and grants to agricultural and fair boards were debated with a final distribution approved for Milton, Georgetown, Acton, and others.

Mrs Fred Young Died in Brampton
Mrs Fred Young died in Brampton on Sunday following a long illness. She lived on Wellington Street East for many years and is survived by a daughter Ethel and four sons in Toronto, two brothers, and three sisters. The funeral was held Friday from her residence with service by Rev Amos J Thomas of St Pauls United Church and interment in Brampton Cemetery.

Funeral service held for W James Palmer
Former Acotch Dilock resident W James Palmer died suddenly at his home in Toronto from a heart attack. He moved to Canada at age 14, lived with the McColls, worked for T Eaton Company and then the Canadian National Railway before retirement. He married Elizabeth Buckingham in 1909. The Pratt Funeral Home hosted services on Saturday June 5 with many friends in attendance.

Women’s Division plans at home visit to wireless school
The Women’s Division of the RCA will host an at home event for members of Abe Lee division on Wednesday afternoon at the Brampton Acton area. Guides will escort the ladies through the training areas with participation by department members and the WD. aims to showcase the training and hospitality provided by the Isdice organizations. Organizers request agencies to notify Phylis Thompson at the RCMP Recruiting Centre of expected attendees and numbers. A Crew Coach bus will depart Georgetown at 1:85 pm to the Wireless School in Guelph and return, expected around 6:30 pm.
