North Halton Golf Club Completes 18 Hole Conversion
North Halton Golf Club celebrates completion of the nine to 18 hole conversion after a three year project. A member competition day with lunch and a dance follows the end of the year long conversion. The ribbon cutting will occur later in the season by club president Bill McNally. The site, once Cedar Crest, was built as a private nine hole course in 1914 by J A Willoughby.

Holstein Calf Dies But Save Farm Barn
A flash fire at Surodana Farm owned by Howard Tarzwell on the 8th Line of Esquesing south of No 19 Sideroad Saturday killed one Holstein calf but allowed several others in adjoining stalls to be saved. A hired hand spotted smoke and used a CO2 extinguisher to begin containment before Georgetown fire crews arrived and doused remaining flames. Damage was confined to a stall area as Tarzwell praised the quick action.

Car Hits House Firemen Stand By
Georgetown firefighters standby as a car rammed a house on Creith Street Glen Williams in March night. Edsel driven by Lloyd Nolan of Toronto knocked down a fence and shrubs, stopped near a gas meter. Damage to car tallied at 75 dollars. First incident this week in Georgetown district. Earlier Sunday a car driven by Gerard Carriere of Acton left Highway 7 near 5th Line Esquesing causing about 1000 dollars in damage.

A 20 year old motorcyclist David Johnson of 51 Raylawn Crescent was treated at hospital for cuts to his left wrist and face and a dislocated left shoulder after his bike collided with a station wagon driven by Elizabeth Goldup of 31 Queen Street at the Mountainview Road and Guelph Street intersection. Damage estimates placed at 175 dollars.

4-H Home making girls and mothers gathered at the community centre for a program led by Mrs Slessoraites and assisted by Mrs Plouffe and Mrs Buchanan. Sheila Foster received provincial honours for twelve 4-H Home making clubs, with a motion to gift future winners and provide a cemetery marker.
