Georgetown High School will switch bus transportation next term after the school board awarded the contract to Vern Kirby Glen Williams, with a rate of 70 dollars per day plus 5 cents per mile for supplementary service. The existing contractor, Georgetown Transportation Company Ltd., led by Art Scott, offered 75 dollars per day and 40 cents per mile. The term runs September 8 1964 to June 29 1965. A third firm Tyler Acton offered to help but did not submit rates. The board opened bids but did not issue a recommendation. The motion to accept the lowest bid came from B H Breckenridge and was seconded by Donald Lawson.
Georgetown Volunteer Ambulance Corps faces driver shortages as council hears that some volunteers work three shifts a month instead of one. Reeve John Elliott urged more members during the Monday night meeting and directed interest to contact Amblance chairman Hildebrandt.
