Rides to See Travel Caravan Sponsored for Seniors
The town will host the Centennial Caravan at the park with a bus run for senior citizens. Council authorized the Centennial committee to hire a bus from Georgetown Transportation Co to transport older residents to view the caravan and return them home. McNally Wins Tender for New Police Building on James Street
The council last week accepted McNally Construction’s bid to build a police facility on James Street. Approval from the Ontario Municipal Board is needed for a debenture to finance the project which aims to ease municipal office congestion. The design allows future conversion into a residence if a new town hall is built.

A 1967 Cadillac four stretcher ambulance joined Georgetown Volunteer Ambulance Service. The GVAS received the vehicle in a ceremony at James Street station, and it entered service this week. The ambulance weighs 6300 pounds and has an enlarged interior with 51 head room plus a 110 volt system for hospital units. Reeve William Hunter handed Mayor Gibbons two cheques from committee meeting fees, which he declined to accept, suggesting they go to the recreation committee. The second GVAS vehicle will operate on normal runs with emergency signs guiding traffic.
