Rev J E Ostrom pastor of Georgina and Acton Baptist Churches spoke at the Georgetown Lions Club dinner meeting introduced by Lion HL Peller. He asked for peace through Christlike living, discussed world tension and competition, and urged better distribution of goods. The club voted to send cigarettes to Major John R Bar to the Lorne Scots Regiment and considered a donation to Chinese War Relief funds. Ladies Night planned with a committee appointed to organize.

Firemen Busy With Two Calls Last Friday
Fire crews responded to two alarms Friday afternoon. A car owned by Suss Ove Ruddell caught fire in a Charles Glove garage but was quickly extinguished with some wiring damage. A later report of a Norval blaze proved false. the chimney fire at Murrey Laird’s home was contained with minor effort.

Sergeant Pilot Gordon McDonald earned his wings last week at No 14 APTS Aylmer and studies an advanced course. Private C E Stapleton formerly at No 10 BTS Knollwood Park Kitchener transferred to Nova Scotia. His parents report he is in Debbert Military Hospital with pneumonia and the column wishes him a speedy recovery. LAC Fred Armstrong at Prince Rupert BC has been ill but back on duty after a hospital stay.
