Russell Miller Appointed To Esquising School Board
In an inaugural meeting the Esquising School Board selected Russell Miller to fill the vacancy created by the December resignation of Bian Brown. The board also reappointed C. A. Grant as Secretary Treasurer and set the meeting schedule for the second and fourth Wednesdays. A by law to borrow 125000 for current expenses was introduced.

No Conventions Council Stays In Own Back Yard
Georgetown will not attend outside meetings this year and will remain in its own back yard. Five requests to join or attend conventions were discussed at Monday's council session. The council approved the letters with minimal comment, including those from the Association of Rural Municipalities, Ontario Municipal Association, Association of Mayors and Reeves, Air Pollution Control Association and Canadian Federation of Mayors and Municipalities.

False fire alarm ends with no blaze in Georgetown
A Georgetown man reported a fire after his son saw a red glow near a residence. The alarm was cancelled after the glow vanished. two firefighters checked the area with the panel truck, and the siren still sounded at about 6 30 pm.
