Hon Major John Weir Foole a Protestant chaplain in the Canadian army earned the Victoria Cross for aiding wounded at Dieppe and his time as a German prisoner of war. Provincial Coating Mill Banquet Returns Servicemen
Miss Beatrice Patricia Joan Browne and Mr. Ormie Carter wed on February 23 at St. Pauls Anglican Norval. After a reception at Morgason home, they head to Toronto. The Coating Mill banquet honored over 200 servicemen returning from World War II with pen and pencil gifts for 36 veterans, two posthumous.

About 50 veterans met at the Legion Rooms to plan a late March banquet. Regiments are represented and a Georgetown reunion is proposed as an alternative to distant regimental reunions. Soldier David Bryden Returns Home From Overseas
Private David Bryden, overseas since April 1944, arrived home aboard the Queen Elizabeth last week. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Peter Bryden and served with the Canadian Army Show. Bryden is married to the former Havel Caldwell and they have daughter Margaret and son David.

Two Lorne Scots Brothers Return From Overseas
Cpl. T. S. Brown nicknamed Nick and Pte. Herbert H. Brown arrived in Canada together after years abroad. Cpl. Brown served as an instructor and sea transport driver at English camps after sailing over in June 1941. His brother, overseas since August 1948, fought in the Italian campaign with the Carleton and York Regiment of New Brunswick and married last Christmas.

Lieut Bertha Schenk, daughter of Mr and Mrs William Schenk of the Glen, came home last week on the Queen Elizabeth after joining the army in 1942. She served in Canada at Brantford Toronto and North Bay before moving to England last July. Her sister Marjorie and brothers Harold and Bill also served in military roles.

Georgetown Soldier Returns Home on Queen Elisabeth
LiCpi Frank Lorusso, a three and a half year overseas veteran with the Engineers, returns to Georgetown aboard the Queen Elisabeth. He served in Italy and on the Western Front. Son of Mr and Mrs Mike Lorusso, he has brothers Rococo and Michael who also served overseas and in Canada respectively. He married in August in Holland to Jantzi Bregitta Hoogland who plans to join him in Georgetown.
