The annual business meeting at Mrs. Webster's home on February 17 discussed a productive year and promising outlook. Officers elected include President Mrs Knight Vice President Robinson Treasurer Prairie Maguire Secretary Margaret Pettigrew and unit treasurer Glendining. Delegates to Hamilton include Mrs Knight Maguire and Pettigrew with substitutes Mrs Smith Mrs Day and Mrs Greenwood. A social afternoon followed with refreshments.
Mrs Thomas M Fox died February 15 at 420 Metcalfe Avenue Wentworth after a short illness. Born in England in 185? she came to Montreal in 1851 and made the city home for nearly seventy years. Survived by husband Thomas M Fox and five sons George G Arthur T Walter B Franklin and Fred, she left a family linked to the city’s pioneer business.
Council met with Reeve presiding as minutes from five prior meetings were read. Treasurer reports, fire brigade actions, salary adjustments, tax collection appointments, hydro and water-rate changes, and supplier payments dominated the agenda.
