One of Halton's oldest residents Mary Field marks 90th birthday
Mrs Mary Field Milton's oldest resident recalls moving to Milton 80 years ago in a horse and rig with her parents Hugh and Mary Bell. Born in Nelson township she has lived there longer than any other resident. She hopes forests once covered Halton will be planted again. In good health she reads daily and notes young people seek city lights. She lives with her daughter Miss M B Feld registrar of deeds Halton. son Roy in Edmonton. five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Frederic Garrett postmaster at Campbellville died after a heart attack Sunday evening February 12 while at home. Born in Nassagaweya he lived in the district all his life and had served as Campbellville postmaster for about twenty years. He was formerly a clerk at Elsley general store and was highly regarded in the community. He leaves a widow and a brother Leonard Garrett.

Georgetown Auditors Report Shows Sound Finances
The 1938 auditors report, to be released to ratepayers, shows a $5800 operating surplus and declining debenture debt since 1932. Bank loans dropped $6845, housing liability fell $14733. current taxes include Education 22266.79, county rates 7423.89, relief and hospitals 1681.29, fire protection 4620.74, streets 3643.71, library and cemetery grants 2266.00, miscellaneous 9810.65. The auditor told council that continued economy could cut the tax rate in the future.
Fire at Grandview Apartments Saturday
A basement blaze at Grandview Apartments was reported around midnight on Saturday. Firemen extinguished the fire after water was turned on. smoke filled the building and damaged tenants’ washing machines but all damages are covered by insurance.

Transport Minister Howe told the Commons that in the first nine months of the current fiscal year 1,410 people were fined for failing to obtain radio licenses. Licenses sold totaled 1,162,800 for 2,679,216 dollars with commissions of 194,581 dollars and administration costs of 81,264 dollars. Private radio receiving licenses in Canada for the year ended March 31, 1938, were 1,104,207, up from 1,038,500 in 1936-37.
