Georgetown Women’s Institute held a euchre night at Oddfellows Hall with 16 tables. After 12 games prizes went to Joseph Gibbons, 96, Mrs George Walters, 94, and J Williamson, 89. Friends in Georgetown learned of the death of Mrs Clarence Near at Wellesley Hospital Toronto on February 10. Formerly Flora Graham she was a daughter of Mrs Florence Graham and the late James P Graham of Georgetown. She leaves husband two children Billie and Jacqueline two brothers Donald and James and three sisters Martha Margaret and Hazel. Funeral was February 12 from Matthews Funeral Parlours Toronto and interment in Greenwood Cemetery Georgetown.

Cpl. William Braisby, overseas since December 1942, arrived home aboard the Queen Elizabeth. He joined the army in May 1942, trained at Guelph and Barriefield, went to England with the Ordnance Corps, later joined the RCAF in 1941 and served overseas in 1943. He is son of Mr and Mrs Pred Braisby and Mrs Florence Graham An, married to Florence Kennedy, with daughter Gail. He hopes to move back to Georgetown with his mother in Toronto.

Georgetown seniors revived the Bon Temps Club spring dance for the first time since 1941. About 300 dancers attended in evening dress with corsages and roses.
