Lions Celebrate 10th Anniversary and Initiation Night
Georgetown Lions Club marked its tenth anniversary with a Monday gala presided by District Governor Bennett. Three new members Dr J H Bateman Ralph Ross and Walter Biehn were initiated and thirteen charter members received 10 year chevrons. Rex Slocum wowed attendees with tricks and Toronto Club’s Charlie Bodley showcased acts during the program.

A series of local events is summarized. The Womens Missionary Society met at Mrs A W Norries home. The Girls Lookout Club hosted a crokinole party at the Beerman home with prizes awarded. The St John Ambulance First Aid Class held a dinner at the McGibbon Hotel on February 18 with Miss Jean Marken toastmistress and plans for ARS Canada wide first aid work, addressed by Dr Williams. Mrs T Grieve welcomed guests and the toast to the Doctors was given by Miss Luke. Dr Bateman spoke. Edith Squires presented Mrs Grieve a bouquet in appreciation of her teaching. Provincial John Ambulance candidates, about 34 in number, awaited certificates that day but were delayed by car trouble.
