The town installs Canada’s maple leaf flag on flagpoles at public schools, the federal and municipal buildings, and hospital sites. Ceremonies precede noon flag raisings as boards order new banners and a few flags await delivery for Holy Cross and other sites.
The Hospital Auxiliary reports 8 volunteers contributed 2000 hours in the past year and reelected Mrs Hewson as president. Officers named include Robert Thompson 1st vice, FP Buchanan vice president Tom Beer 3rd vice president Mrs Ja recording secretary Mrs Berry corresponding secretary and Mrs Alexander Keir. The group aims to restart by collecting green stamps and asks members to drop them in a box at the hospital gift shop. Six and a quarter books is the target amount. The 1964 annual reports were printed in bulletin form as a year end record.
Georgetown council weighs appealing county judge ruling that reduced the Sage land assessment on Main Street. Frontage value trimmed and acreage reclassified from farm to subdivision. Mayor Cibbons cites about $700 tax loss and potential justification concerns for other assessments. Zoning plans include subdivision by a prospective buyer. Council to meet with town solicitor before acting.
The Lieutenant Governor will invest the Queen's Scouts from Greed Acres Region Troop and youths from Hamilton and the east. Ceremony participants are those who earned the Queen's Stout qualifications in the past year.

Norval United Church held its annual meeting on January 2 with a congregational supper and business session. Rev Roy Irwin reported 212 members. 3 elders will be replaced yearly. Mrs Barnhill left a sizable bequest for a special fund to be used for Sunday services and books.
The Rotary club plans a tenth anniversary event at the Riviera on May 4 featuring a show and dance. Invitations will go to out of town guests with past ties to previous Riviera productions. The details of this year's program are still being finalized as organizers present a best of the decade showcase.
