E C Drury Elected in Halton Ontario Premier Wins

Hon E C Drury Prime Minister of Ontario was elected member for Halton by a margin exceeding two thousand votes. Edward J Stephenson trailed, carrying stronger support only in Oakville Georgetown Milton and in two large centres, with rural polls favoring Drury. Final totals show Drury with a substantial majority of 2286.

High School Board Elects Hutt Chairman for Year

At the February meeting the High School Board selected Mr. Hutt as chairman. Mr. Dayfoot Rev. Cameron and Mr. Matthew attended. Secretary and treasurer were reappointed. Accounts from United Typewriter Co. were approved. A resignation letter from the caretaker was noted. Miss Ord and Miss Mullin received a $100 raise.

Ontario Rural School Fairs Grow Across Province

The Agricultural Department reports 1939 distributions to 8 978 rural schools totaling 1 890 bushels of potatoes 482 of grain 11 575 seed packages 80 700 vegetable seeds 21 900 flower weeds and 11 046 dozen eggs from a bred-to lay Plymouth Rock strain. First fair began in 1809 with three schools. by last fall attendance reached 92 600 children and 107 580 adults.
