Pet Cat Fire Victim May Have Been The Culprit
A Georgetown fire chief suspects a pet cat may have sparked a February blaze at 14 Bairstow Crescent in Bairstow Crest. The cat died from severe facial burns after the fire damaged the living room and Chesterfield, with heavy smoke spreading through the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Black. The Black family and their son were away when two neighbours reported smoke at about 4:45 p.m. Firefighters, wearing air packs, fought dense smoke and heat as the Chesterfield sank through a hole in the floor. The family remains with friends while repairs proceed.

Two weeks after a driveway crash at 90 Mountainview Road another similar accident occurred with Kenneth M South backing from the same driveway and John Sanderson driving southbound colliding. Property damage totaled 225 to Sandersons 1962 Buick and 75 to Souths 1964 Dodge. Ice covered the road and large snowbanks lined the street. The first world exhibition was held in 1851 in London.
