Former Pastor Returns to Preach and Dedicate New Church
The Christian Reformed Church held its first Sunday services in the new pew church replacing the old Main Street building. Rev Dr Los of Grimsby delivered the dedication sermon with organ solos by George DeKleer and William Bream, as John Enk unveiled a memorial stone and keys were presented to the church. The congregation, now 142 families strong, celebrated gifts from donors and a history overview by P Weststeyn.

Council Briefs Expand Scout and Girl Week Observances

Mattress Fire Causes Water and Smoke Damage at 46 Ewing St
A bed ignited at 46 Ewing St home of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Agnew on Saturday morning. Fire Chief Erwin Lewis said damage was confined to the bed with water and smoke effects in the room. Smouldering insulation required dousing by firemen on Monday afternoon after thawing frozen pipes work. Mrs Harold Crisp alerted firemen as smoke filled the house.

Raspberry Vinegar on Menu for 4-H Girls
Sixteen members of Ashgrove 4H Homemaking Club gathered at Grace Bird's home on February 11 for the first meeting of the Centennial project A World of Food in Canada. Led by Mrs. H Rentenaar and Mrs. J Bird, they learned to make blueberry buckle baked Indian pudding and succotash and sampled raspberry vinegar. Georgetown Brampton Teens In Hospital After Highway Crash
A Georgetown girl Linda Mary Millan 17 is in satisfactory condition in Pee Memorial Hospital Brampton recovering from multiple injuries after a fatal two car collision on No 7 Highway west of No 10 Saturday night. Driver John Carmichael 42 died Monday afternoon. Miss MacMillan, passenger in car driven by Spencer Lee Amos 20, has fractured leg and ribs and head lacerations. Amos released Sunday. Also in hospital are Carmichael’s two teenage daughters Terry 15 and Manlyn 14. third daughter uninjured. Amos Brampton resident. deceased lived RR 1 Cheltenham. Accident after 7 pm caused highway traffic delay. both cars were total wrecks. Miss MacMillan is daughter of Duncan and MacMillan 49 King St E.

Freight Train Station Wagon Crash Claims Driver Life
A level crossing collision near Limehouse at 11 35 a m killed the station wagon driver. The deceased, a Georgetown man named James Grege, left no immediate next of kin. The way freight train stopped for about 30 minutes after the crash at 4th Line Esquesing and Limehouse. His funeral plans were pending and the police continued to locate his family.
