The Georgetown District Branch reports over 50 000 articles sent to Red Cross Headquarters in four and a half years, with more than 22 000 dollars in donations from Georgetown and vicinity. The 1943 gifts totaled 5388 dollars as treasurer M r McLintock presented a detailed year report to LeRoy Dale president and the board.

Winter's cold week brings deep snows and low temperatures
A harsh seven day stretch delivered six to seven inches of snow with drifts several feet high. Temperatures plunged to as low as two degrees nightly, averaging 4.1 degrees for the week and 11.7 for the daily mean. Georgetown Soldiers' Comforts Comm Reports Fourth Meeting
The Georgetown Soldiers' Comforts Committee held its fourth annual meeting in the Municipal Building on February 9. Officers were re-elected. donations for 1943 rose $69.03 from 1942 with tag day receipts up $32.05, and plans to send cigarettes and chocolates to about 300 local servicemen overseas were announced.

Mrs Annie Duckworth Georgetown Native Dies at 26 Brook Ave
Mrs Annie Taylor Duckworth wife of William Duckworth MP for Toronto Dovercourt died suddenly at her residence from a heart seizure. A Georgetown native she moved to Toronto in 1908 after marriage and belonged to Olivet Baptist Church and the LODE. She is survived by a brother John P Taylor of Toronto and sister Mrs Nellie Greensward of Georgetown.

Annie Thompson Buried in Norval After Ill Health
Annie S. Thompson dies at sister’s home in Georgetown in her 78th year after a period of declining health. A longtime St George's Church of England member she taught Sunday School and contributed to war charities. Funeral held at Mrs Johnston’s home and St George's Church with Archdeacon Thompson and Rev Colebrook officiating. Interment in Hillcrest Cemetery Norval. Surviving sister and brother live in Georgetown and Hamilton.

Figure Skating Exhibition Pleases Crowds Amid Snow
University of Toronto Skating Club staged a Friday night show in the Arena hosted by the Navy League branch and Countess of Strathmore. The ice was excellent, costumes were colorful, and the two couples’ jive drew the crowd. Girls' Pipe Band and refreshments enhanced the event, with general skating after the program ended around ten.

Tea versus water in army tea test shocks British troops
An official British test compared tea and water for soldiers in a training battalion. Three platoons had water freely, one had only tea. the tea platoon completed the 280 mile march while the water platoons struggled. A snowplow on Main Street pushed snow to the curb, with more likely to be cleared if heavy falls continue.
