Arrow Taxi, operated by Clarence, opens a Brampton branch this week at 2 Nelson Street East in Shaws Coe building. Founder Mr Hennedy started the business five years ago from home on Water Street Highway corner, later moving to Main Street near Georgetown Dairy. The Brampton cab will join Georgetown and Brampton operations with two cabs now, plans for more later.

Memorial Service for King George Held by Baptist Church
A memorial service for the late King George was held at the Baptist Church on Sunday morning with Rev A J Barker preaching from Isaiah 85:4. The service highlighted moral leadership’s impact on nations, the choir sang Green Pastures, and the congregation included King George’s favorite hymn King of Love My Shepherd Is. In the evening the pastor continued a Modern Miracles series with a message on the miracle of a new night, delivered as Miss Jean Marley sang I Have Found A Friend.

Merritt Retires After 48 Years at Provincial Paper
William Merritt ends a 48 year career with Provincial Paper Ltd on January 31 retirement. He helped lay the coating mill foundation and floor and was among the first hired. As a retirement token, machines paused fifteen minutes and colleagues presented him a Lazy-Boy chair in the finishing room chaired by Hugh Dickie with remarks from De G Hoover and Ross Duncan.

Breaks Leg in Farm Tree Accident
Douglas Starret son of Mr and Mrs Alvin Starret was injured on his father's farm when a tree he and Albert Flickama were cutting fell and struck him on the left thigh. He was trapped for an hour before the tree was moved and he was taken to Guelph General Hospital. He will be in a cast for several weeks and may be able to return home in one or two weeks.

Early Communion Held by St George's Men's Club

Norval farm family mourns Absalom Newns dies after stroke
Absalom Newns of Mayfield near Norval died Tuesday after a stroke at his Norval home. Funeral held at McClure Funeral Home Brampton with Interment at Mayfield Cemetery. Born in Yorkshire 67 years ago, he farmed at Mayfield then moved to Town Line near Norval twenty years ago. Survived by ten children Raymond and Dorothy among them. predeceased wife Yanvistre Cheyne in 1980. He was a Presbyterian and formerly attended Claude church.
