Six members of the University of Toronto Skating Club performed a varied program at the Lions Skating Carnival in the Arena last Wednesday. Yvonne Brennan and Wanda Beasley led as solo stars with chorus members Milda Alten, Lucille Workman, Betty Maden, and Irene Langlois. Winners included Dolores Herrington in multiple girls divisions and Hugh Wiley and Keith Huffman in the boys and men categories. costume prizes went to several skaters, ending with a broom-ball climax between club members.

Pte Jak Bailey and Gnr Norman Barber return from overseas on the Aquitania and Queen Elizabeth. Bailey served three years including D Day and survived a sinking in the Channel. Barber joined in 1942, played in army bands, joined the Canadian Army Show, then broadcast duties in London and on the BBC, with plans for radio work in Canada. He is married to Frances Trainer and has a daughter Virginia. his brothers Keith Paul and George also served.

Ronald Kay son of Mr and Mrs Adam Kay of Georgetown Ontario recently returned from service aboard the Ile de France and has been visiting at home and in Elora. A Fleet Aircraft Fort Erie employee he enlisted in June 1943 and went overseas that December. He reached France after D Day serving on the western front. His brother William was killed in action in Italy a year ago this month.

Sgt Bernard Cowtan husband of Dorothy Sar gent of Georgetown returned to his Brampton home last week after a year with the RCAF overseas. Son of Mr and Mrs E F Cowtan of Brampton he joined in September 1943 and trained at Ottawa Guelph and Mont Joli before going overseas. They have one son David.

Sgt Bob McMenemy Returns Aboard Scythia At Halifax
Sgt Bob McMenemy son of Mr and Mrs Bob McMenemy of Glen Williams docked at Halifax on February 2 aboard the Scythia. An employee of Smiths Stone Ltd he enlisted at Galt with the Highland Light Infantry in January 1941 and went overseas in July of the same year. He went to the continent on D Day and has served in all western front countries.

Stapleton Brother Returns From Overseas Service
Pte. Albert Stapleton, second of three brothers, arrived home after crossing on the Aquitania. He served in Belgium, Holland and Germany, was stationed at Camp Borden and Hamilton, and worked at Smith & Stone Ltd. before enlisting. Brother Cecil Tony returned to Canada last fall and Edward remains overseas. The Stapletons are from Norval, with Mrs. H Stapleton and children Erroll Louise and baby in Georgetown.
