Georgetown YMCA elects new officers at annual meeting
At the Georgetown and District YMCA WWCA meeting in the high school gymnasium on Wednesday February 2 Mrs Joan Aggiss chaired activities including Coed Club Judo teen clubs Grey Group Ski Club and others. Helen Van Sickler named president with Kelvin Johnston Janice Smith Fred Aggiss and others elected to posts as officers and a 24 member board was announced.

Mrs Dora Sutherland was elected president of the Georgetown Red Cross Chapter at a North Halton Golf and Country Club meeting. Severe snow reduced bus service and caused sharp drops in attendance in Georgetown public schools and rural students. High schools saw declines with Stewarttown 8 of 8 pupils, Pine View 8 of 240, Speyside 9 of 279, Limehouse 40 of 200, Glen Williams 123 of 202, Norval 55 of 91, and district totals dropping near 1000. Rural mail and industry also affected.

Christian Youth Week Observed by Cubs at Holy Cross Church
About 150 cubs attended Christian Youth Week at Holy Cross Church. Michael Fobert read from the Bible The Lord is My Shepherd, the theme of Father Otger's talk. Spiritual songs were led by Mrs Reynolds, Mrs Manro, and Mr Colter. Rev Johnston of St Andrew's United Church gave the closing prayer. Rev Llewellin of St Alban's Anglican Church, Glen Williams, attended.

Council Briefs appoint board members and budget request
Council reappointed L McLaren G Fantuz Wm Garbutt Stan Walsh Rex Cook W R Smith and R Ballentine to the Community Centre Board which administers the swimming pool. The Planning Board submitted a 1966 budget request of 6000 and March was proclaimed Red Cross Month with the Red Cross flag flown at the Municipal Building. Nine applications for the pool position were received.

Hope Industrial Commission Won't Become Political Football
