The event included a cantata white gifts to the Milton Children’s Shelter and a tableau Nearer My God to Thee with Santa Claus giving Christmas treats to Sunday School scholars.

John Townsend died December 16 after a lingering illness at age 85. Survived by a brother Thomas Townsend and sister Mrs Sarah McArthur. Funeral from Edward Townsend’s home conducted by Rev Waddell and Rev McDonald, with clergy praising his faithful church attendance.
