Tragic Wreck Claims Two Rockwood Youths near Georgetown
Two Rockwood youths Trimble 20 and John Bacon 19 died when a 1941 Ford they rode in ran off No 7 highway and burst into flames two miles west of Georgetown early Sunday. The crash, investigated by Constable Gunn, left a long tire skid and a tree impact near Del Maltby’s home. Both victims worked locally and the driver Trimble was from Rockwood. families and siblings are named.

A Georgetown family gathering marked the 90th birthday of John Graff, formerly of Acton. All but one son, George of Saskatchewan, attended with nine children and their families. The group included two married daughters and several sons from Georgetown and nearby towns. Mrs. Graff, née Annie Towns, died twelve years ago.

Grass Fire Unusual Occurrence on 8th Line
A grass fire on the 8th Line property south of Georgetown town limits Friday morning drew the Georgetown Fire Brigade. The blaze started with no rubbish burning and spread over the hill above Bert Raymond's house, creating heavy smoke. Firemen beat the edges and quickly extinguished it without equipment.

Motorcycle club member dies after hospital stay
James Robert Ish 121 27 died at Peel Memorial Hospital Brampton after injuries from a August 23 motorcycle crash on No.7 Highway near Norval. He had been unconscious at Toronto General Hospital then operated on for brain injuries before transfer to Brampton. Survived by parents Chester Hill and five brothers and two sisters. Funeral held at McClure Funeral Home with interment Greenwood Cemetery. pallbearers were Yellow Jackets members.

A 300 year old carol attributed to Father Jean de Brebeauf, missionary to Huronia, described as Canada’s first Christmas carol. William Charles Maguire 86 died December Sth in Regina after a lengthy illness. Born in Toronto he joined Massey Harris in Winnipeg in 1892 and became Regina manager of the parts department in 1903. He celebrated 50 years with Massey Harris in 1952 and later received a 50 year jewel from the Oddfellows.
