A freight derailment near Acton blocked the C N R main line between Toronto and Stratford last Thursday morning. Three cars piled up and two off the track at Acton. no injuries were reported. A 6 45 am wreck halted midsection as a switch was misread. The 7 55 westbound was turned back to Toronto after passengers of both trains were moved, with the other service continuing later.
Eight patients from the insane asylum are sent to the Halton Peel Old People's Home creating strain. Six are Halton and two Peel patients. The Hour of Refuge committee chair W N Riddell calls for relief measures and possible return of patients to hospital facilities.

Mr and Mrs W T Barnard and Miss EK Barnard conclude a three month visit to their son and brother W T Barnard in England. Frank Pearen recovers well after a November 16 operation at Guelph General Hospital. Fifteen Milton area relatives visited Guelph Hospital on Saturday. Mrs J M Denyes hosted an afternoon tea for her mother’s 80th birthday with cheerful wishes and decorations.
Mr. Alex Borgeau suffered a severe ear wound and knee bruise after a fall, with hopes for a full recovery to attend again. R J Stringer spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Chas McKeown’s family of Acton and returned home. Mrs J Edge of the mountain travels to Scotland. Mr H Logan plans to resume business. Mrs J Coulter is improving. Mr Robt McCauley and Mr Wm Etringer are on the sick list, with early recoveries hoped. George Coulter of Toronto visited his parents over the weekend.
Mr. E. J. Moore of Toronto attended Moorecroft on Saturday for the forty eighth wedding anniversary of his parents. Rev A C Stewart was absent and Rev A E Thomson of Elora led services at Knox Church last Sunday. Town Hall cella improvements for prisoners are underway. Acton prepares for the rush as jails are updated. Ex-Reeve Andrew B Murray of Erin Township, living with son Wealey Murray at Esquesing, is critically ill and not expected to recover. Free Press.
