Snowstorm Halts Traffic In Halton Hills And Milton

A snowstorm dumped six to seven inches over Halton Hills and urban Milton causing travel disruption. Two local works crewes and later regular crews kept main roads clear through the night. Go Transit reported three of four Toronto Georgetown trains ran, with one canceled due to late readiness and engineer redeployments.

Four month route study proposed by opponents

The Interested Citizens Group advocates a four month review comparing the Bradley Georgetown hydro corridor with the Bradley Kitchen er Milton route. An independent agent would use existing Hydro data to assess routes, with meetings requested with Premier William Davis and Energy Minister James Taylor before year end.

Halton ADAPT to hold second annual meeting at Milton Hospital

The Halton alcohol and addiction program will hold its second annual meeting at Milton District Hospital at 8 p.m. on December 12. The public is welcome to attend. Holy Cross separate school plans volleyball at Ernest C. Drury school in Milton on December 10 with about 20 teams expected. The tournament starts at 9:4 p.m. Girls' coach Cynthia Tobin notes many entrants. Blood donor clinic at Holy Cross Church on Maple Avenue runs 1:30 to 8:45 p.m. Monday. James Fisher of RR3 Georgetown honored for 50 years with Georgetown Agricultural Society and fair board, with plaque and legacy of service. Library board chairwoman to retire at year end

Halton Hills library board chairwoman Joan Lister will retire from the six year post on December 31. She notes crowded facilities and delayed construction but believes a new volunteer should take the role while the Georgetown library project continues under capable board members. Lister regrets delays raising costs and hopes a successor with strong library interest is appointed. She also served as regional rep for the Ontario Library Trustees Association and as the town’s South Central Regional Board representative.
