The Georgetown Recreational Council hosted an ambitious Civic Holiday track and field meet with junior to open senior weight classes, a tug of war for the George town Herald shield won by Smith & Stone, and a Canada Legion challenge for the MacCormack Trophy. The evening garden party featured Doug Romaine and Johnny Perkins with trophies awarded by recreational director Hal Newman.

Fair Exhibits Planned Early for Georgetown's 100th Fair
The Georgetown 100th fall fair on Sept 6 and 7 encourages early planning for exhibits especially in the ladies section. Directors seek strong home baking flowers vegetables and grains entries with a $1.00 membership allowing up to 10 items and extra charges beyond that. Last year exhibitors earned up to $50 in the hall. Entries are dropped at the fair grounds Friday morning Sept 6 for judging by an out-of-town judge.
