The Children s Aid Society held its third annual meeting at St Paul s United Church with A Mason of Acton chairing. Officers for the coming year include J M Denyes Milton president and A Mason Acton as president, with detailed reports on 1937 38 activities and 106 children under care. The address by Nora Lea of Toronto CAS highlighted child protection functions and the need for cross municipal cooperation to improve care.
A full house watched the Knox Presbyterian Church Young People present the three act play Oh My Stars at the Gregory Theatre last Thursday. Miss Hazel Walkie directed the performance with strong cast and lively scenes at Sagville Herald newsroom life. Notable songs and instrumental numbers by Doris Bessey Joseph Young and William Young received lengthy applause.
Attendance at the Ashgrove event highlighted by a Scotch Block Junior group display of cotton accessories for the bedroom. The Georgetown Choral Society under W. E. Capps performed a large program at United Church on Monday evening. Sixty two singers plus soloists Miss Willa Price Ruth Anderson Greta Capps Phyllis Capps impressed the audience. A luncheon followed the concert with offerings from the group.
