Benefit hockey game raises funds for young Georgetown athlete
A benefit hockey game promoted by the Hockey Club raised 963 dollars for Donnie Herrington a Georgetown baseball pitcher and hockey star who is traveling to Weston for bone disease treatment. Local volunteers donated arena space posters and refreshments while players officials and the Girls Pipe Band contributed without charge.

Wilfred McGuire Cole, a Georgetown native living at 198 Redpath Ave Toronto, died Sunday April 28. He was son of the late Jacob Cole and Rebecca McGuire, educated locally, moved to Toronto thirty years ago to work for a finance company, and leaves wife Kathleen Killen of Port Caylin and brother Chester, with four nephews. Funeral held Tuesday at McDougall & Brown Chapel, Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Friends from the district attended.

A Monday St Johns Church recital showcased Miss Hepburn who accompanied vocal numbers and performed a duet with Barbara Cromar. Betty Jean Anderson could not perform due to her Peel Music Festival duties. Mrs Cromar received flowers from Carolyn Burn and Tommy Pitakis thanked Hepburn. Ice cream cookies followed the recital.

Georgetown organizers from the Recreation Commission Lions Club and the Ministerial Association announce a two week summer camp in July. Last year 230 children enrolled from Georgetown and district with an average two week attendance around 270.
