A Buchre event organized by the Ladies' Bowling Club will be held at the Town Hall on Thursday evening April 21. Tickets are sold at Matthew's Drug Store or from club members.
The piece argues that good roads raise land values and rents, attract farmers to lead road improvements, shorten distances, and improve rural schooling and healthcare. It stresses profit, pleasure, and public spirit, noting soldiers' examples in France and urging 865 day roads.

They offer a written agreement to return or transfer ownership if upkeep becomes town dependent, while maintaining a lease option. The town council rejects direct taxation to fund watches for returned soldiers, urging separate fundraising for the club house and memorial. Carried unanimously. April 8, 1919.
The G W V A aims to strengthen mutual service bonds from the Great War, honor returned soldiers, preserve memory and records, erect monuments, provide burial places, and establish annual memorial day. It seeks care for the sick and needy veterans with pensions and employment, and loyalty to Canada and the Empire. It notes the organization helped secure over two million dollars for claims and influenced pensions and post war benefits.
A report from the Children’s Aid Society highlights widespread degradation across the county with gratitude for volunteer help and donations. Two youths, Joseph Klein and Henry Sheen, admitted theft of $140 cash and cheques from a Bequesing churchgoer. each received suspended sentences with costs and one year of supervision by Inspector Norton to assist in finding suitable homes.
