The town contest judged by John Sommer of House Sol art gallery rewarded Karen and over a hundred children for coloured pictures from the March 31 feature. Second prize went to Anne Marie Maugenest and third to Bobby Weltch, with twelve $1 awards to local kids listed.

Merchant 43 Years Won NM at Amiens
Harry Goldham a long time Acton meat market operator died April 11 after a heart attack at 12 Orchard Blvd. He and his father in law bought the Patterson shop in 1920, ran it as Ex win and Goldham, later sold to Harold Crawford and still known as Goldham’s Meat Market. Born in London, he served in WWI with the 164th and 116th battalions, earned the Military Medal at Amiens, and was wounded at Cambrai. Survived by wife Nellie, son Robert, daughter Ruth, six grandchildren, five sisters, and several nephews. Funeral held at Harold C. McClure Funeral Home with interment at Greenwood Cemetery.

Dramatic Dawn Police Pursuit Across Six Cruisers
A Georgetown police cruiser joined six cruisers in a dawn chase reaching speeds over 110 mph. The pursuit began at 4 a.m. on No. 7 Highway near Brampton, with Chinguacousy and OPP units chasing an 1859 Dodge through Georgetown, Stewarttown, Hornby, Milton and Norval. The driver, a 28 year old Brampton man, fled on foot after a mid field stop near Gelds and faced charges after capture by OPP officers at 5:30 a.m. He is out on $200 bail pending court.
