Municipal Building Dedicated in Georgetown Sunday
The new Georgetown Municipal Building was officially dedicated on Sunday morning in a ceremony led by Archdeacon W G O Thompson. The service, followed by a sermon on good citizenship, emphasized public duty and local governance.

The Countess of Strathmore Chapter marked its year with a Monday Limehouse dinner for 31 members hosted by Mrs. Ern Batkin. Ruth Evans sang two solos with Hilda Erwin on piano. whist winners were Mrs. Harold Hancox and Mrs. J. Hughes, with Mrs. Tom Howson as consolation. A business meeting approved a $5 donation to Halton Music Festival and arranged charitable efforts for the Institute for the Blind and a northern school.

Father of Four Killed When Sewer Caves In
William Balusiak a 45 year old employee of Scott Jackson Construction died in a trench cave in on Emery Street Georgetown while working on a sewer age project. He was buried three feet deep after a warning from a co worker and died from a fractured skull and other injuries. a post mortem and police investigation followed. He is survived by his wife and four children.

Georgetown council passes building by law and hires town staff
The council moved by McCum ber and Whitmee passed a building by law for Georgetown. It approved hiring Ronald Arthurs and Erwin Lewis as town employees at 86 cents an hour for a 44 hour week with overtime. Alf Collins foreman salary rises to 2300 yearly starting April. Mrs Henry Tost hired as caretaker of the new Municipal Building at 40 dollars monthly. Two tenders considered. A G Kruyns approved to remove two trees on Charles Street. Water extensions and sewerage discussed. King Street extension delayed. Legion Ladies room request deferred until sewerage is operational.
