Harold Bairstow general manager of Deltex Developments was named chairman of Georgetown Chamber of Commerce succeeding John Gunn. The budget keeps the mill rate at 49 but taxes rise about 124 percent due to a change in assessment. Expenditures total 505,109 with 333,513 in taxes. school costs rise 65,000 and high school costs 8,000. The town faces deficits without more government aid, though Georgetown still claims the lowest tax rate in three north Halton towns. Taxes are due in three installments June 1 August 1 and October 1.

Georgetown approves three building permits in March
Building inspector Douglas Wilson issued two residential permits and one for a gas service station for the BA Company. The new gas station will be at No 7 Delrex division at Delrex Blvd junction on the former Bruce Reid farm. Permit values total 28,500 for March with year to date at 258,500.
