Tillsonburg leads 3-1 in the series as Sundridge and The Queen clash in overtime. The game drew 1600 fans, the largest local turnout in eight years, ending with crowd trouble and the crowd finally settling.
The council approves a 6 inch water main extension near the eastern limits to meet by law and undertakes extensive sidewalk repairs on Murdock Street costing about 1400. Lowering undermined sections to road level, planning board rep Edwin Wilson and county health unit push for creek cleanup.
The ceremony featured a bride in a mylon net gown over satin with a chapel train and crown head dress. Attendants included sisters Mrs Jack Mellor and Mrs Lloyd Robinson of Acton in pale green nylon net outfits.
The council approved raises for several town staffers noting the assessor was the lowest paid in the county. Leont Hibbert received a 180 increase to 3190 and Bill Cole, a water meter reader, rose to 2600. A two cent an hour raise was voted for all town works staff with various new pay rates.
The Guides and Brownies held a successful daffodil tea with help from mothers and Georgetown residents. Proceeds were shared among Packs to fund next year’s camp and future projects, supporting young people and their leaders.
A Georgetown raffle at St four corners last Friday night awarded Henry Helfant a car valued at 2200 dollars. The event drew 444 lucky entrants with a single winner declared by the midnight drawing.
Mrs Malcolm T McNabb 69 a former Mary Ford Normal School and Rockwood teacher, died April 3 in Milton Hospital after months of illness. She had been a resident of the Ashgrove district for 35 years and was buried in Rockwood Cemetery after a funeral service at Harold C McClure Funeral Home.
A CBC Cross Section program will air Thursday April 11 featuring Town in Transition. The half hour documentary will be broadcast locally on CJBC Toronto and focuses on Georgetown.
Walter H Pope a CPA ACLS scores the highest marks among ACLS secretary exam candidates in December 1955. He will receive the award at the Canadian Institute dinner announced from London HQ. Pope runs his Georgetown accounting business from Hewson Ord offices on Main Street South. he and his wife and three children reside at 97 Maple Avenue West in the former Ford home.
Miss Florida Sunshine promotes at IGA Foodliner with a large tractor trailer carrying 30 000 oranges and 25 000 grapefruits from the south. She plans school visits and a short film to accompany the event.
Report notes the Hymn ceremony for Edna Hazel Lawson and Jack Topp at Knox Presbyterian Church and a reception in Knox Hall. Bride wore blue lace over taffeta with blue shoes. Groom is son of late Mr and Mrs John Topp, employed at a car parts firm in Willowdale.
Mrs Annie Stull aged 80 or 81 died quietly in her sleep at her home on the 8th Line on Saturday April 6. Funeral from her home Tuesday April 9 conducted by Rev Alex Calder. She married Fred Stull 54 years ago on April 9 and is buried in Cemetery. A longtime farm resident active in Junior Farmers Stone School Board Knox Church and Presbyterian women's groups. Survived by sister Nellie Mars and brothers R E English of Glen Williams and John of Unios. Pallbearers listed. promotion of a forthcoming Minstrel Show by Rotary volunteers noted.

Mrs. B B Osler national IODE vice president spoke at the 18th anniversary dinner in Limehouse as guests welcomed by regent Mrs. Percy Leslie. A hot turkey dinner was served by Knox Presbyterian Ladies Auxiliary. Barbara Cunningham sang as Osler and Mrs. Wicks and Fleming presented gifts to the chapter. Ruth Evans replied to a toast. A clothing drive for Cedarvale School was announced with members urged to bring garments for a northern bale.
District Governor Robert Coop will be guest of honour next Tuesday as Lions discuss relief plans for Sunbeam area mud. Council expects to regrade ditches and improve drainage after permits, following earlier weather delays that bogged down work. Mayor Armstrong and town engineer say solution is near, with Rice subdivision cited as a successful partial fix.
