Chrysler of Canada reports the 14th consecutive month of higher sales versus a year ago. February registrations of Chrysler-built cars in Canada rose 10.1 percent from February 1955, while the industry declined eight percent. For January–February 1956, Chrysler cars gained 16.8 percent against 1955, with Plymouth Dodge DeSoto and Chrysler making up 34.8 percent of early 1956 sales.

Mrs. Sarah Kennedy Gibbons 100 Listed as Acton Native
Mrs. Sarah Kennedy Gibbons died March 23 at Flynn Nursing Home aged 99 years two months. She would have been 100 in November and was Esquesing Township’s oldest native. Born in Limehouse she lived most of her life in Acton district and married George Gibbons in Georgetown in 1882. Requiem Mass was held March 27 at St. Josephs Church Acton with burial at Dublin Cemetery. Surviving are daughters Anne Gibbons and Mrs Hugh Campbell and son Joseph Gibbons, former Georgetown mayor and current assessment commissioner.

Ern Batkin, the Silver Wood weatherman, returned home last Wednesday after surgery in a Toronto hospital but relapsed Saturday night and required readmission. A March 28 birthday party euchre at Stone School drew a good crowd with 12 tables. Prizes went to Mrs. Somerville and Mrs. Ernie Miller. Harding Price led men’s scores with Billy Wilson second. Mrs. A. McClure won a lucky draw. Institute ladies catered refreshments. A W I cadre at Mrs. Harry Marchington’s home on March 23 featured five card tables. first prizes to Mrs. Charles Greig and Percy White, with consolations to Mrs. Ernie Miller and Edgar Beeney. lunch served by co-hostesses Shier Williamson and Marchington.

Three Injured In Highway Accident In Toronto Area
Three Toronto residents were injured and two local youths suffered shock in a two car crash on No 7 highway late Thursday night. The southbound car driven by Peter Pomeroy collided with a westbound Toronto vehicle driven by Robert Barnard, sending the Toronto car into a ditch. Damages were reported at 300 dollars for the Toronto car and 150 dollars for the Pomeroy car. Jim Billborrow investigated the crash.
