A Good Friday service was held at St Stephen s Anglican Church with fair attendance. Easter Sunday worship at St Stephen s and the United Church included Holy Communion. Hornby Women s Institute hosted a dinner for Halton Jersey Breeders Association at the Orange Hall. Miss Jardine and Miss Eldred Sibbald are visiting relatives over the holidays. Harold Bailey has enlisted in the Canadian Army. Rev R D Trask will occupy the United Churches three pulpits next Sunday. Early garden growth from seeds sown March 4 shows progress.

Easter services drew large congregations at multiple churches. St George Anglican, United Church, Knox Presbyterian, Holy Cross RC, and Baptist Church all reported hopeful messages, special music and floral decor. Soloists included Marion Hepburn and Thomas Eason Jr. The Baptist service featured Rev Ostrom’s sermon The New Dawn and The New Day with hymns Risen a Glori ous housing and Lift your Glad Voices. Bouquets of roses and snapdragon adorned pulpits.

Sacred Cantata Well Attended by Four Georgetown Churches
A sacred cantata OLEVIT TO CALVARY by Maunder was performed by the combined choirs of Georgetown United, Georgetown Baptist, Knox Presbyterian and St. George's Anglican Churches in the United Church as the fourth Community Holy Week service. The packed audience heard rehearsed solos, organ and violin interludes, and prayers led by Archdeacon W G O Thompson. The program traced events from the Last Supper to Calvary with Scripture scenes and a concluding benediction by Ven W G O Thompson. A second performance was scheduled for April 5th in the United Church.
