Numurkah group debates water, hall needs and oaths
The Namurkah and District Progress Association executive met on a Wednesday evening with good attendance. President A McPherson chaired as plans were discussed for constitutions from Bendigo North League and Shepparton Chamber of Commerce, and a draft for the Numurkah body. They noted deaths of H J Glenny and W A Campbell, urged strengthening honorary justices, discussed a Numurkah water supply and a permanent town supply, and considered using Shire Hall for municipal needs with possible Mechanics Hall funding. They also agreed to urge council and the Mechanics committee to discuss a shared building and to keep main street lights on nightly. Members Corlett and Simpson volunteered to canvass for new members at 2 shillings 6 pence per year.
