A reader expresses thanks for support in the Northern Province election on June 15. The Numurkah RSL branch ball, held Tuesday night in the Town Hall, drew a large crowd with attendees from Finley and dignitaries from Dookie, Cobram, and Shepparton. The Victorian Institute for the Blind annual event was held at Numurkal Town Hall on Thursday with good attendance. Ellen O'Beirne, wife of John O'Beirne of Numurkah and mother of Mrs Reed, Mrs Crotty, Mrs O'Shea, Mrs Bigws, Mrs Tyres, Mrs Lardner, and others, was remembered warmly. The program featured varied performances and instrumental items. Special thanks were given to Mr A Stringer for his role as local secretary and for hospital work. The band’s future was noted as uncertain.
