Dairy Show in England Highlights Friesian Triumphs
Interest swelled as British Friesians dominated the London Dairy Show. Of 26 cows yielding 5 to <6 gallons nine were Friesians, eight cows yielding 6 to <7 gallons had seven Friesians, and 37-gallon cows were all Friesians. An odd Red Poll cow averaged 2.36 and 2.98 per cent butter fat. Friesians won four open champion cups, supplied two reserves, and claimed top prizes in inspection and milk yield. The Spencer Cup went to a Friesian also noted for 1910 Royal Show success with a 1574 gallon annual yield for 1919-20 and 1194 gallons in 3 days, making her the show’s heaviest cow.
