Where the water comes from to the Avon River at Northam
The article explains the Avon water source as a large watershed reaching the Goldfields. Water travels via the Goldfields railway at Southern Cross then west parallel to lines through lakes including Lake Brown, crossing the Dowerin Merredin and Wilgarn lines near Nungarin and Baandee. It then runs south past Kellerberrin, crosses the Quairading Bruce Rock line, drains into a broad area, and finally joins the river a few miles south of Mt Rokeby. A recent high flood would have allowed a boat from Brown to Perth, perhaps the first since 1872.
