Rev. Newman Hall recounts a breakfast at Mr. Gladstone's London residence for the Jubilee Singers from Tennessee. The event gathered Lord Cavendish, Lord Lyttelton, W. E. Forster, and Mrs Gladstone among others. The scene highlighted equal treatment of the singers, Gladstone's engaging tour of art, and a closing chorus and prayers as the party departed at noon.
