Tenants at Wokingham Meet to Seek Tithe Reform
A large meeting of tenant farmers in Wokingham Town Hall on November 11 demanded abolition or reform of tithes. They attacked the Commutation Act, urged Parliament to readjust tithe assessments, and formed a local committee with Captain Gower to petition the government and unite with the Farmers Alliance.
