Lords Debate Ends with Coalition Defeat on Final Appeal

In the Upper House Lord Redesdale failed to secure a decision to retain the House of Lords as the Court of Final Appeal losing 52 to 23. Lord Chancellor Cairns backed the Judicature Act amendment which passed in committee. Other measures aim to extend the Act to Scotland and Ireland, signaling progress before adjournment.
